G8 leaders have vowed to deliver on pledges to Africa with agreement on a $60 bn package for fighting Aids, malaria and TB. However, Bob Geldof, who is an anti-poverty campaigner, said "This wasn't serious, this was a total farce" with disappontment. Because the fact is that it's not the first pledges to help African countries. The G8 nations had pledges in 2005, but they hadn't met their commitment. So the anti-porverty campainers said that instead of re-committing to the promises made two years ago, the G8 leaders had to get serious and deliver.

G8 nations have agreed to seek "substantial" cuts in emmissions to tackle climate change in order to make a replacement for the Kyoto Protocol by the end of 2009. The German chancecellor said "We agreed... that CO2 emissions must first be stopped and then followed by substantial reductions".

my opinin
1 However there is a luck of precise definiton of "substantial cuts".
2 US's attitude toward the issue is a sigificant point

A report said, some official merchandise for the 2008 Olympics in China has been made by child labour, moreover they were forced overtime work with low wages.

According to Playfair - an alliance of world trade unions -, it found abuses at the factories which make official Olympic caps, bags and stationary.

however, those companies have denied the claims and company manager Michael Lee told the BBC "It's not true, we work for some of the best brand names in the world and they check our company every month."

there are some enplyees' comments who work at the factories interviewed by BBC."We follow all the government regulations here so I'm not sure where these complaints have come from."
"I cannot agree with the report, our plant is making bags for the Olympics. Our working hours are 8am to 6pm - no extended hours, no child labour."

my opinion
Two sides express tortally opposite conditions like above. We have to see this issue carefully.

Goodwill Group Inc. is considering selling subsidiary Comsn Inc. to a nongroup company becouse of the big scandal the other day. what the matter made worse was that Goodwill Group Inc. tried to dodge goverment punishment and hand over Comsn's business to one of its group companies. The issue has beocme a big social problem for people who need nursing-care service and caregivers employeed by Comsn. The most imprtant thing is to organise the system for continueing to provide nursing -service to Comsn custmers immediately.
